Posted in Events by Dee @ Sep 2, 2008

I do hope you enjoyed Merdeka. Actually I first arrived in Malaysia on Merdeka Day 1981! Yep, its been a long time.
I have just been forwarded a flyer about a very interesting ramadhan-public-talk and dinner being held at Prince Court Medical Centre in Kuala Lumpur on the 10th September. This will be conducted by Ms Tan Yen Sing, a Dietitian who runs their Lifestyle Centre. She will  unveil tips on how one can sustain your energy and maintain a healthy lifestyle during this Ramadhan.

There will also be a live cooking demonstration by their Chef and I have to say the food is good there.

Cosmetic Surgery & Compression Garments

Posted in Uncategorized by Dee @ Aug 26, 2008

I have written about the importance of wearing compression garments after cosmetic surgery several times but sadly we see and hear of many women (as its mostly women) who are not wearing them. This may be either they dont know about their importance, not given the correct advice or they are reluctant to wear them.

If you are having cosmetic surgery especially liposuction or breast enlargements please come and visit us at Amanita. We have fitted hundreds of women of every shape and size and are regarded as the fitting experts for cosmetic surgery. We are able to give you advice about what is the correct garment, how to take care of the garment and how to take care of yourself after surgery.

Marena garments, considered the most advanced technology in garments are available exclusively at Amanita. Check out why these garments are more superior compared to others in Malaysia.

Features Benefits
Power/Stretch

Three dimensional stetch - not one or two dimensional like all other garments -makes this garment superior in providing supportive compression as it comfortably squeezes the patient’s body.

Softness

This garment molds like a second skin because it is made of a proprietary blend of INVISTA’s LYCRASOFT® and TACTEL® fibers, certified as the softest, best performing textile fibers available today.

Durability

Manufactured with a patent-pending knitting design and tested in the laboratory, this garment holds its shape even after 60,000 flexes and 30 extreme washes.

Moisture Management Actively conducts heat and sweat away from the body through a combination of heat - and moisture-dissipating materials, and three-dimensional fabric that allows air to circulate close to the skin. This garment exceeds INVISTA COOLMAX® standards for dryness, cooling effect, and moisture absorption.
Anti-Microbial Protection

Built in permanent antimicrobial agents, this garment inhibits the growth of bacteria, mold and mildew leaving patients feeling cleaner and fresher even after long periods of wear.

Its definitely worth spending a little more money to ensure you get the best finished product!

Did you know there is a great little centre at LPPKN for young people from 13 - 24 years old. They have one in KL, one in Pantai and one in Penang. Its bright and cheerful and extremely friendly.

You can go there and get advice on weight management, skin problems, relationship problems and more and all for FREE. And what’s especially great is that the Teen educators are young themselves.

Recent Travels

Posted in Breast Cancer, Uncategorized by Dee @ Aug 20, 2008

I have been traveling extensively this last week. Last Thursday Annabel and I went to Seri Manjung and Lumut in Perak. What an interesting day we had…….first we dropped into see Mr Mohan, the surgeon at Seri Manjung Hospital. He happened to be in the middle of surgery so we met him in theatre..that was a first! What a lovely place but with startling figures of breast cancer and mastectomies….these women need help post mastectomy so we will return. Time for me to approach Perak State Exco.

Then we traveled onto Lumut to give a talk at the naval base..well..we are friendly, well behaved ladies BUT they decided we were a potential threat to their submarines as it took us an hour to enter their base!! Finally they decided we were honest citizens and let us in to talk to a group of extremely welcoming nurses.

On Saturday Alison and I visited Alor Star Hospital. Its huge, bright and airy. Staff Nurse Sabariah had telephoned about 40 ladies and most of them came. I hope they forgave my terrible Bahasa…as you all know… We even had show and tell with my breast reconstruction.  They invited us back again and we will, we promise. Now to approach Kedah State Exco as well!

I then headed over to Kuala Terengganu for fittings on Monday for the day. Met all my lovely friends at the hospital and fitted about 17 women. Terengganu State must be commended for pioneering this programme for women.

Now I am off to Penang to speak at a conference at USM tomorrow on all the issues women with breast cancer face and then to meet many of these women on Friday at Mount Miriam and Lam Wah Ee Hospital. PHEW!!

Dont forget if you are from Penang, Taiping or even Ipoh and need a fitting, call Alison , our representative in Penang at 0124105218. She is happy to travel to Ipoh, Taiping, and Alor Star, especially if you can organise a few ladies

Consumer Health Digest is a free weekly e-mail newsletter edited by Stephen Barrett, M.D., and cosponsored by NCAHF and Quackwatch.

This is an excellent website and certainly provides a first rate objective resource if you are considering alternative treatments. Check out the following as an example.

The Dutch Health Care Inspectorate has concluded that the cancer treatment advocated by Tulio Simoncini is ineffective and dangerous.
