I had the pleasure of giving a speech at The Guardian event on Friday night at the Manadarin. Guardian presented a cheque to PRIDE for RM5000,000.00. It was a fun evening and I met up with lots of old breast cancer survivor friends. Datin Azrene and Salwah made me very welcome.
PRIDE”S latest project is to fund breast prostheses for women in need..a project dearest to my heart
An excerpt:
“Whatever their age or lifestyle, it is understandable for women to have concerns about how they will cope emotionally and practically after breast surgery, especially if they have lost all or part of a breast. Breasts’ endless exposure in media and advertising makes it even harder for women to face an illness that strikes them at what society considers the core of femininity. Anything that takes away the feeling of having a ‘normal’ body can be frightening and upsetting. Problems with body confidence may seem like the least of their worries when they are fighting breast cancer …But these can grow into major issues that, as women recover, threaten to spoil the picture of newly regained health.”
Thank you PRIDE for inviting me to present for you and thank you for supporting women with breast cancer.
